Curling Basics Refresher

Cost: $50 per person

Looking to get back on the ice? This two-hour refresher clinic is ideal for those who have curled once or twice before, as well as anyone wanting to brush up on the fundamentals before the season begins.

Participants will review the basics of stone delivery and sweeping while becoming more familiar with the playing surface, game structure, etiquette, scoring, and key aspects of the sport. The clinic is appropriate for adults and older youth and features small-group instruction to ensure plenty of individual coaching and practice time.

What to Bring

• Clean, dry running shoes
• Loose-fitting or stretchy clothing
• Layers to stay warm on the ice

Equipment
Curling equipment will be provided for participants who do not have their own, including grippers, sliders, and stabilizers.

Instructor

This clinic will be led by Karynn Flory, Head Coach of the NAIT Ooks Curling Program and recipient of the 2026 ACAC Curling Coach of the Year Award.

Since becoming Head Coach in 2021, Flory has established herself as a respected leader within the ACAC curling community. Under her guidance, the NAIT Ooks men's curling team has qualified for the CCAA National Championships every season, reflecting her commitment to athlete development and competitive excellence.

Curling has been a part of Flory's life for more than 20 years. She has competed at the junior, collegiate, and ladies levels in both provincial and national events. As a former NAIT student-athlete, she earned medals at all four ACAC Provincial Championships and all four CCAA National Championships during her collegiate career, including an ACAC Provincial Championship title.
